Cats, Coffee, and Chocolate...

This page will feature each cat and/or pet with his own particular story, similar to the site at Bailey's Cove, but more recent and hopefully updated on a regular basis.  It may take a bit of time to get it up and running, but just check it out occasionally and I'll try to work on it a little a day.  Thanks.

I apologize for the delay in getting this section of my new site together.  As life goes, I encountered some distractions and difficulties.  However... as of today, I am back on track.

"Back on track"??  Apparently, not so much.  However, I did update the Photos section today.  And I am starting to update this section "About Our Pets" today.

I will start with Rose... not because she is the oldest (about 15) but because she is the only cat that we haven't had since she was a kitten.

Rose's story starts May 2001.  We were preparing to host a reception for our youngest son and his wife who had been married in the rainforest of Peru that April.  My mother and I had traveled to Tennessee to visit family and while we were there hubby called to say that we had a new addition to the family... a long-haired white cat... that had showed up in the back and made herself at home in our rose garden (hence the name "Rose").  He said that she was very pretty - and friendly - and looked like she had no intention of leaving.  At the time we only had our 3 inside cats, Teela, Thibbadeaux, and Molly.

Well, time went by and Rose did stay.  She stayed and socialized with the people at the tables in our yard for the reception and eventually came inside.  At first she would stay inside for only short periods.  But then as she got more comfortable with the inside cats, she stayed inside for good.  We had her checked out at the Vet's and outside of the fact that she had 2 broken teeth (which looked like someone had kicked her in the face), she was spayed and declawed in the front.  So apparently she had been someone's pet at some time.

She is a bid odd... kind of pychotic... not a cat that wants to be petted or held.  She will bite... or strike out.  But she loves my hubby.  Hangs around him like a puppy dog and basically tolerates the rest of us.  I say that she may be 'missing a few bricks', but is otherwise a good cat.  That's pretty much Rose's story.  Beings long haired and white, she tends to leave large clumps of white hair everywhere.  But in general, she takes pretty good care of herself.  The clumps are knots she pulls out herself.  I brush the others... and occoasionally try to brush her.  She will let you for a very few minutes... and then that's enough.
